Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Pet Registry?
The Pet Registry is an organisation actively promoting responsible pet ownership and targeting pet crime.
Why do I have to be registered with the pet registry?
At The Pet Registry it is our vision for all owners and pets to be registered as this promotes responsible pet ownership and protects our pets.
How does being registered with the pet registry protect our pets?
We believe that if everyone was to become registered and verified it would reduce pet theft and selling pets from puppy/kitten farms.
Why have been told that I should register before collecting my new pet?
If you have been told to register prior to gaining ownership of a new pet it means the pet is already registered, which is great news! Once you fully register, ownership can be successfully transferred.
Why do I have to register my pets?
Your pet is an integral part of your family and by giving them their own pet ID in turn gives them protection too. This is because if all pets were registered it would make pet theft very difficult as pets ownership is tracked.
Is The Pet Registry just for Kittens and Pups?
No. You can register your pet at any age, however, the sooner you do this, the better.
Do I have to register all of my pets?
Ideally yes. Each pet will have their own unique identification number, this will never change.
I have just got a new pet but their parents aren’t registered is this ok?
Yes, we want to encourage as many pets to be registered as possible. We would suggest making their owners aware of our system and our vision. If they decide to register you can link up and start building your pets blood line profile.
What pets are accepted within The Pet Registry?
At this current time the pet registry is only for registering cats and dogs.
Is The Pet Registry replacing microchips?
No. It is still law to have your dogs microchipped and greatly advised for cats too.
Can my pet still be registered with the pet registry if it isn’t registered or recognised by another club or organisation such as the Kennel Club?
Yes. The Pet Registry encourages all dogs and cats no matter the breed or heritage to be registered.
What benefits will The Pet Registry give?
The benefit of the pet registry is to ensure that every pet has their own unique identification number and a recorded ownership at all times. For example, a car has a log book which makes selling a stolen vehicle more difficult . It is hoped that by ensuring all pets are registered it will make it difficult for pets to then be stolen and sold on.
Can people search my details?
The Pet Registry takes steps to ensure that your privacy is maintained and once you are verified and receive your pet registry identification it is yours to have and share. People can only find you if you share your identification number.
Can people search my pets details?
Your pet will have its own unique code and only if you have shared this to someone can they search for your pet. You can also limit any information which is made visible to them.
What other services are available?
